The user can switch directions in that model. 
I think a main mistake in Bisq 1 is that we integrated the direction into the Main menu as switching the currency from fiat to altcoin includes a context switch of base/quote currency and using BTC always as center as in Bisq creates the confusion as the base currency with altcoins is the altcoin not BTC as it is with fiat...
So I think the direction need to be from the "hierarchy" below the market selection.
The market selection defines what BUY and SELL means. For Fiat it means Buy/Sell BTC for altcoins it means Buy/Sell the selected altcoin.
