I also agree with Harry that higher deposits are a fly to quality.  Organized markets have been working like this for centuries for a reason.  But to deterr scammers without a delay the security deposit must be at least as high as the trading amount, which would also impact UX. 

What are you referring by "ring of trust" @HarryMacfinned ?
