We've tried making choices for users before and it's hard to take it back if you make a mistake.

I absolutely agree that UX is deteriorated by too many choices. In my experience with sales funnels every choice leads to a 20% drop-off.

However I believe that optimisation and UX streamlining should NOT happen at this stage... but rather on mobile apps and web-apps that use Bisq2 as a backend.

We should be humble enough to recognise that we don't know what users want and even less what they will want 2 years from now. So allowing experimentation and choices early on and not closing doors is the right thing to do at the base layer. Flexibility will be key in the coming years as new payment, privacy, exchange methods come online.
